Dumpsite Next to Central Jakarta Mayor Office Complained

Road users passing on Jalan Tanah Abang I, Petojo Selatan Urban Village, Gambir Sub-District, Central Jakarta, are complaining the bad smell coming from a dumpsite (TPS) which located next to Central Jakarta Mayor Office.

The TPS should be moved. Its smell makes dizzy because located on roadside. Building TPS must use thorough calculation, not haphazardly built it on roadside

“The TPS should be moved. Its smell makes dizzy because located on roadside. Building TPS must use thorough calculation, not haphazardly built it on roadside,” lamented Saiful (37), a biker passing in the location, Friday (7/11).

“Not only its location on roadside, it was also built opened. Thus, the smell of the trashes reaches onto the road,” complained Yanto (42), a pedestrian.

Responding this matter, Head of Gambir Sub-District, Hendri Perez, admitted has not received report on bad smell coming from the TPS.

“No residents have reported it to me. If said it’s disturbing due to smelly, I think it’s only (said by) employees of offices next to the TPS,” he said.

According to Perez, the TPS has been operating for more than five years. The location is assessed ideal because it is far from settlements.

“Petojo Selatan Urban Village Head had searched land for TPS, but it was indeed difficult. We got the location there (Jalan Tanah Abang I). I think it’s quite ideal because far from settlements,” he stated.
