Trash Volume Increasing, Illegal TPS Emerging in Koja

Illegal dumpsite (TPS) is emerging on roadsides in Koja Sub-District, North Jakarta. Such a thing is allegedly caused by increasing trash volume during this fasting month of Ramadan.

Those TPS have existed for quite some time, but the trash volume increases starting early fasting month. The trashes are picked up late

Based on beritajakarta.com observations, trashes are piling on Jalan Plumpang Semper, Jalan Raya Yos Sudarso, Jalan Menteng Lagoa, Jalan Kramat Jaya, Jalan Sindang, Jalan Pembangunan 1 Rawa Badak Utara, and at Tablo Park in Rawa Badak Selatan. Those trashes consist of food leftovers, styrofoam, plastic bottles, plastic bags, and leaves. They left foul odor and caused unpleasant scenery.

“Those TPS have existed for quite some time, but the trash volume increases starting early fasting month. The trashes are picked up late. Usually, they were transported in the morning, but now trashes on Jalan Menteng are still piling,” uttered Seno, a local, Tuesday (7/1).

Trash Piling on Jalan Daan Mogot, Locals Complained

Responding this matter, Head of Koja Sub-District, Rahmat Effendi, admitted that trashes are piling at some points in his jurisdiction since these last few days.

“I’ve tried to coordinate with related unit to pick up the trashes. Such condition probably happens due to lack of trash transportation vehicles,” he stated.

When beritajakarta.com contacted Head of North Jakarta Cleanliness Sub-Department for confirmation, the official’s cell phone could not be reached and the short message sent has not been replied.
