Row Village Program in N. Jakarta Doomed to Be Cancelled

The row village program in North Jakarta is apparently doomed to be cancelled. This is because North Jakarta Mayor, Heru Budi Hartono refused to sign the row village proposal which is scheduled to remodel thousands of housing units in North Jakarta.

Hartono who is also person in charge of the row village program, said based on the evaluation results from some proposals, many homes that do not deserve to be as row village. "The program is only for unworthy buildings. But, in the field, we found many homes are still in good conditions," he expressed, Friday (7/11).
City to Be More Selective in Building Row VillageHe acknowledged he wondered why many habitable buildings could pass the scrutiny from officers of North Jakarta Housing and Government Buildings Sub-Department. In addition, some locations of row village project are also not eligible.
"One of them is on green open space (RTH). This is not in accordance with the spatial plan, that's why I refuse the program," he asserted.
Nevertheless, he cannot be sure, whether the row village in North Jakarta this year keeps running or stopped. "I will coordinate with the related units in advance before making a decision," he said.
Head of Planning Section for North Jakarta Housing and Government Buildings, Suhartono expressed that he will re-conduct verification related with homes that do not qualify for the program.
"Indeed, It may not be proposed without the Mayor's signature. As a solution, we are from verification team will try to re-discuss it about inappropriate proposal," he uttered.
As known, as many as 1,770 homes in North Jakarta were proposed in row village program. Those are in RW 01, 07 and 08, Penjaringan Penjaringan. In Tanjung Priok, they are located in RW 05 and 07, as well as Rw 02, 10 and 13 in Pademangan Barat.
