Sandi Leads Consolidation Meeting About Bike Share

We use project pilot test to find out the required completeness

Jakarta Deputy Governor, Sandiaga Uno, led an internal meeting related with bike share operational, at City Hall, Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, Gambir, Central Jakarta yesterday.

The meeting was attended by representatives of Communication, Informatic and Statistic Dept.; Central Jakarta Administration; Transportation Dept.; Bina Marga Dept.; Environment Dept.; Education Dept; Investment and One-Stop Integrated Public Services (DPM-PTSP) Dept.; Satpol PP; Monas Technical Unit; PT MRT Jakarta; and PT Transjakarta.

On that occasion, they discussed the roadmap of bike share implementation, integration system with public transportation such as Transjakarta and MRT, behavioral usage analysis and impact of bike share, school bike provision, implementation draft, cooperation with bike share operator, and points of understanding between Jakarta Provincial Government with operator.

They also discussed legal aspects that include operational plans, bike share business licenses, cycling rules, as well as foreclosures and fines.

"We've a fairly active community, they will continue to be involved. We'll create public discourse via Jakarta Smart City canals to collect inputs," he stated, Thursday (4/12).

He wanted the simple system via technological and digital interventions. Thus, supervision can also be easily done.

"We use project pilot test to find out the required completeness. The trial will be done in the upcoming July for three months," he stated.

As for the information, potential pilot will be realized in National Monument (Monas) and City Hall areas. For the Monas area, the recommended number of bikes as many as 200 units is spread over nine points whereby the bike cannot be taken outside the area of Monas.

At City Hall, there will be 200 units of bike without any territorial boundary with the purpose of accommodating the trip of Jakarta Civil Servants (PNS) from City Hall area to train station and Transjakarta bus stop.

It is aimed at popularizing the use of bikes as a daily transportation mode, creating an eco-friendly cycling, and making eco-friendly city.
