The trial of one-way traffic system imposed on Pangeran Antasari Non Toll Flyover (JLNT), South Jakarta, is proven effective in parsing traffic congestion. Therefore, one-way traffic from Cilandak towards Blok M will be permanently imposed in the morning at 5.30-9.30 AM.
The survey and responds from the residents are very positive. That’s why the one-way traffic system on Antasari JLNT will be continued permanently
“The survey and responds from the residents are very positive. That’s why the one-way traffic system on Antasari JLNT will be continued permanently,” stated City Police Traffic Directorate Security and Safety Sub-Directorate Chief AKBP Irvan Prawira Yuda, Friday (7/18).
According to Yuda, City Police Traffic Directorate together with Jakarta Transportation Department is currently preparing the facilities and infrastructures for this policy.
Public Transport to Use JLNT as Its Exclusive Lane“Jakarta Transportation Department has starting to installed permanent signposts in location and et cetera. If needed, a governor regulation will be made to patent this Antasari JLNT,” he said.
Based on beritajakarta.com field observations, the traffic towards Blok M is quite dense especially in the morning. This is because the lanes are narrowing right before entering the JLNT, precisely at Cipete Selatan market intersection.
Transportation observer from University of Indonesia, Ellen Tangkundung, reminded that traffic at the intersections on the same lane with the Antasari JLNT must also be regulated. At least there are two intersections that will become the estuary for vehicles that pass on the JLNT, namely intersection on Jalan Wijaya and in front of Indonesia Police Headquarter.
“Don’t forget, the traffic from the north towards south, or Cilandak towards Sudirman and Thamrin, will estuary at the intersection around Jalan Wijaya. In there, traffic engineering must be done, or else there will be more severe traffic congestion. So, there should be adjustment in the morning and policemen to regulate the traffic,” she uttered.
If both intersections were not regulated, Tangkundung assessed the congestion around them would be hard to parse and even snaking to the JLNT. However, the one-way traffic system could save the traffic around TB Simatupang and Antasari.
“It would parse congestion in TB Simatupang and Antasari and make traffic flows smoother. Because it will be passed by two lanes, the traffic would be smoother,” she told.
