PT KAI has added two new trains for economic class in a bid to anticipate the passenger surge during homecoming season this year. "We add two new trains and ready to be operated in facing the homecomers surge,' said Director of PT KAI, Ignasius Jonan, at Senen Station, Central Jakarta, Sunday (7/20).

Those new trains are Menoreh Lebaran and Sawunggalih Lebaran. They have been operated since July 18. In each carriage, there are 64 seats and two carriages dedicated to disable people.

Jonan disclosed the trains ordered from PT INKA will continue to operate, even though despite Eid ul Fitr celebration is over. They will replace old trains. "After Eid ul Fitr, we would replace old trains," he stated.

Head of Public Relation for PT KAI Daops 1, Agus Komaruddin uttered every Menoreh and Sawunggalih Lebaran has 768 seats. "For two carriages, we have 1,536 seats," he told.

He revealed his side is very concerned about the comfort and safety of passengers. Hence, 12 security officers will be prepared in such trains. Several routes have also been prepared for Menoreh train, such as Pasar Senen-Cirebon Prujakan-Tanjung-Tegal-Pemalang-Pekalongan-Weleri-Tawang Stations. As for the Sawunggalih trains wil stop at Pasar Senen-Jatibarang-Cirebon-Purwokerto-Kroya-Karanganyar-Kutoarjo Stations.

Train ticket price for Menoreh train with Pasar Senen-Semarang Tawang route is sold at Rp 250,000 and Rp 215,000 for Semarang Tawang-Pasar Senen route. Then for Sawunggalih train's ticket price is sold at Rp 260,000 with Pasar Senen-Kutoarjo route and Kutoarjo-Pasar Senen at Rp 260,000
