Jakarta Transportation Dept. (Dishub) Deputy Head, Sigit Wijatmoko mentioned, driver certification will be applied for public vehicle drivers starting this year.

He considered certification program for public vehicle drivers is the realization to improve driver competence and it is also functioned as job protection towards driver profession. Thus he hopes driver's performance and professionalism could be improved.

Besides, he added, this certification can provide sense of security and comfort for public vehicle passengers. Thus mugging incident that was happened in North Jakarta on last Saturday (6/23) will not happen again.
He affirmed, his side will give strict sanction, including public transportation license revocation, for any drivers who are proven to be involved in criminal acts.
"We are still processing public vehicle license while waiting for LP letter from North Jakarta Police Resort," he explained.
