After having been delayed for three years, the construction of the Enjo Market built in 1976, Jalan Pisangan Timur, Jatinegara, East Jakarta, will finally be re-continued. Its construction is predicted to finish the upcoming October.
This makes traders and buyers feel uncomfortable
Previously, the market condition was very worrying and unfit to be operated, thus renovation is conducted. Yet its implementation had delayed and did not reach target dated on June 2012.
No Fund, SD Building Renovation Stopped
Head of Enjo Market, Agus Dermanto explained prior to renovation, the market condition was muddy and often flooded. "This makes traders and buyers feel uncomfortable," he told, Wednesday (7/23).
He furthered that after passing through several meetings, the Enjo Market traders numbering 625 people agreed to be relocated in a temporary shelter on Jalan Raya Pisangan Timur. Yet traffic congestion cannot be avoided because they often sell their wares at the right and left side of the road.
"The previous amount of traders is 625 people with 1,000 stalls. We plan to use a new system with 940 stalls," he uttered.
Manager of PD Pasar Jaya Public Relation, Agus Lamun added at this time, the renovation has reached 65 percent and is hoped can already be operated in the upcoming October.
"By doing so, I hope the market can still accommodate the old traders. Considering they have a right to occupy and trade in the Enjo Market like it used to," he stressed.
