City Suggested to Involve PELNI in Provision of Ships

City DPRD advises Jakarta Provincial Government to collaborate with PT PELNI (Persero) in providing ships that serve routes to the Seribu Islands region.

I suggest the city to involve PELNI to be able to provide more ships to serve routes to the Seribu Islands

The proposal was delivered in response to the plan of Jakarta Transportation Dept. that would buy six ships that are made of fiberglass and outboard engines by spending Rp 24 billion this year.

Traditional Boat Taxi Will Be Retained

"I suggest the city to involve PELNI to be able to provide more ships to serve routes to the Seribu Islands," expressed Subandi, member of City DPRD's Commission B, Wednesday (8/8).

He also suggested that passenger ships that will be purchased have iron body and engines inside are like PELNI's Nusantara Belt Ship.

"Transportation Dept. must have commercial sea transportation and professional Human Resources (SDM)," he exclaimed.

Another statement also came out from another member, Endah Setia Dewi. She assessed that budget for the purchase of ships can be allocated to provide a ticket subdivision for the citizens.

"It would be better the city give subsidy to the citizens in the form of ship tickets operated by professional companies," he uttered.
