Torch Relay in South Jakarta Goes Festive

The Asian Games torch relay in South Jakarta today was festive. The residents seemed enthusiastic in participating in the event that is held to welcome the upcoming Asian Games.

South Jakarta Mayor, Marullah Matali admitted that he was quite satisfied with the event in his region. Initially each post was predictably attended by 200-300 people. However, during the event, its number hit thousands.

According to him, the event needs to be enlivened by all Indonesian citizens. Considering within 56 years, Indonesia has just got another chance to host the event.

"This is an honor to carry an Asian Games torch in one sub-district. But the festive feeling is felt not only in Pasar Minggu, but all residents of South Jakarta," he told.

Sekar Asih, (45), Rawa Bambu resident admitted that she had come to see the event. According to her, it was a rare event held.

"When South Jakarta became the first host, I was not born yet. That's why now I come here to see firsthand. This is a rare event," she told.

Based on beritajakarta.id, residents look very enthusiastic in awaiting the torch. Even they have been waiting since 8 AM. they are seen crowding the street that is passed by the torch relay group. Most carry various attributes, ranging from flags, t-shirts, balloons, etc.
