Jakarta Receives We Love Cities Award in San Francisco

Jakarta Environment Dept. Head, Isnawa Adji receives 'We Love Cities' certificate and global acknowledgement in San Fransisco, United States of America, September 12-14, 2018.

"It is a great honor to become a part in campaign that participated by people from all over the world with the same purpose which is to build a sustainable city," he conveyed, Friday (9/14).

Bima Arya Handed OPCC and We Love Cities Award to Anies

He explained, 'We Love Cities' campaign is a part of One Planet City Challenge (OPCC) event which is held every two years and participated by cities in the world. This campaign shows each cities' ambition, commitment, and innovation in order to solve weather change problem.

Jakarta has won with total 164.954 interactions from votes, comments, and social media. According to him, this achievement shows Jakarta has power to encourage its citizens to support City in this international campaign.

"Our winning can be achieved due to support from Jakarta Governor and Vice Governor, Jakarta Government apparatuses, private sides, LSM, and especially Jakartans," he expressed.

He added, Jakarta is chosen as the National OPCC winner because of Jakarta's commitment and efforts in anticipate climate change impacts. It is conveyed in Carbon Climate Registry (CCR) report which is assessed by OPCC judges.

Some of his efforts in leading Jakarta to be a sustainable city are replacing street lights with energy saving lamps, adding some Transjakarta rapid transit bus (BRT) corridors, and installing solar panels.

"Our other effort is replacing fuel power plants to BBG (Gas Fuel)," he mentioned.
