Clowns and PMKS Netted from Monas

As many as 550 joint personnel from Jakarta Satpol PP, TNI garrison, and the police were deployed to Monas on Saturday (8/2) to sterilize the area from street vendors, clowns, as well as people with social welfare issues (PMKS). As a result, 10 clowns and street vendors’ wares were netted and confiscated.

The operation today runs smooth and safe. The wares are confiscated to give wary effect to the street vendors

Based on beritajakarta.com observations, the street vendors were deliberately hiding their wares in some places at the park around Monas, such as in plant pots, the bushes, and the side of Monas’ fence. Although they had packed their wares neatly in sacks and cardboards, the officers can find those things easily. Luckily, there was no resistance from the street vendors when their wares were confiscated.

In addition, the officers also netted 10 clowns and PMKS who were street-performing. By the officers, those clowns were asked to remove their costumes which then confiscated and loaded into Satpol PP truck. As for the men behind those costumes, they were taken into Jakarta Social Department’s car.

Street Vendors in Monas Evicted

“The operation today runs smooth and safe. The wares are confiscated to give wary effect to the street vendors. Later, these goods will be taken to warehouse in Cakung, East Jakarta. Hopefully after this operation Monas could be sterile from street vendors and PMKS,” stated Head of Jakarta Satpol PP, Kukuh Hadi Santoso, Saturday (8/2).
