9,853 Homecomers Arrived in Kalideres Terminal

Thousands of homecomers arrived in Kalideres Terminal, West Jakarta, after spending Eid ul Fitri 1435 Hijri holiday in their hometowns. As for the peak of homecoming returning flow, it is predicted to happen on D+7 Eid because by upcoming Monday (8/4) the employees and students must go back to their normal activities.

With less homecomers, it is confirmed that the amount of returning flow passengers would probably increase but not significantly

“Until D+3 Eid, a total of 9,853 people have arrived in his terminal. That amount consists of 1,481 people on Eid day, 1,874 people on D+1, 2,063 people on D+2, and 4,435 people on D+3, and it will keep increasing until D+7. As for the peak of returning flow, it would be on Sunday (8/3),” stated Head of Kalideres Terminal, Joko Sukarno, Saturday (8/2).

According to Sukarno, the terminal is usually crowded at night around 10 PM until 4 AM due to returning flow from cities in Java Island is stuck in severe traffic congestion in Pantura.

“So now, the returning flow is still dominated by passengers from Sumatera,” he added.

Moreover, Sukarno informed that the amount of returning flow this year is decreasing from last year. This year there are 33,732 passengers, while in 2013 there were 61,687 passengers and 67,595 passengers in 2012.

“It means that with less homecomers, it is confirmed that the amount of returning flow passengers would probably increase but not significantly,” he uttered.

Meanwhile, Sahrul (57), one of returning flow passengers, told that he and his wife and three children deliberately returned to Jakarta early to avoid traffic congestion on Sumatera highway where there are many damaged spots.

“On Monday, I and my wife must return to work. That’s why we come home early to avoid traffic congestion and have time to take a rest in our house, as well as going to Eid ul Fitr gathering in relatives’ houses,” said the resident of Durikosambi Urban Village, Cengkareng Sub-District, Wet Jakarta.
