N. Jakarta Launches Waste-Saving Movement in Schools

North Jakarta launches waste-saving movement in 240 schools. This event is done at Multipurpose Room of Sunter GOR complex, Tanjung Priok.

I am sure environment can be clean if garbage has an economical value

North Jakarta Mayor, Syamsudin Lologau stated, this waste-saving movement's main purpose is to reduce waste volume thus environment quality can be improved while it also gives economic impact.

"Hopefully it can educate students. Because we should concern about waste," he conveyed, Monday (10/30).

He informed, there are 240 waste banks in public and private schools from elementary schools to high schools in North Jakarta. Later, this movement will be expanded and it will target RT/RWs.

"We will continue it until RT/RWs. I am sure environment can be clean if garbage has an economical value," he added.

Meanwhile, Board Member of Financial Services Authority Commissioners (OJK) in Education and Consumer Protection, Tirta Segara conveyed, this movement which is applied in North Jakarta and West Jakarta becomes the new innovation in educating, encouraging literacy and financial inclusion.

"Hopefully it can be implemented in other regions in Indonesia. It is not only encouraging people to save money, but with this innovation, people can get money by collecting waste," he explained.
