Park in Menteng Not Maintained

An interactive park located on Jalan Sukabumi, Menteng Urban Village, Menteng Sub-District, Central Jakarta, is in poor condition due to lack of maintenance. Some of its facilities are damaged and some others were stolen by irresponsible people.

Once there was a park officer named Mr. Heru from Central Jakarta Parks Sub-Department. But since last mid July, he was no longer on duty. I don’t know where he is now

Based on beritajakarta.com observations, seven out of eight park benches were stolen. Meanwhile, the facilities of children’s playground are damaged with rusty iron bars and peel-off paints.

“Too bad a park in this elite neighborhood is not maintained,” expressed Siska, one of park visitors, Monday (8/11).

According to Baharudin (31), a trader who often based around the park, the park is not maintained since there is no officer takes care of it.

“Once there was a park officer named Mr. Heru from Central Jakarta Parks Sub-Department. But since last mid July, he was no longer on duty. I don’t know where he is now,” he uttered.

When beritajakarta.com contacted Head of Central Jakarta Parks Sub-Department, Jansen Saragih, on his cell phone, he seemed reluctant to respond this matter.

“I’m sorry, I’m in an occasion. I can’t hear your voice,” he said.
