Sex Workers Rampant in Tablo Park

The North Jakarta Administration's goal to eliminate the people with social welfare issues (PMKS) along Jalan Yos Sudarso is apparently unoptimal. This is because there are still many PMKS who pass from the officers supervision, particularly at Tablo Park which used by sex workers to find customers.

As quoted by beritajakarta.com, tens of sex workers began to operate around 10 PM until dawn. Its existence is deemed disturbing people comfort because of they hung right on the edge of the main road. Moreover, the location closes to citizen residential.

Ambarita, (36), one of local citizens at RT 09/13, Kelapa Gading Barat, Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, expressed some sex workers recklessly conduct immoral act in the park.

"They (sex workers) always exist every night, and also set up a tent as transaction place. Surely, this is very disturbing us," he lamented, Thursday (7/31).

He worries that the existence of sex workers in his residential would bring negative effect to children. "This is very dangerous for children development. So please, related unit to immediately crack down them after Eid ul Fitr," he asserted.

Head of Rehabilitation and Social Service Section for North Jakarta Social Sub-Department, Israk acknowledged besides around Tablo Park, the PMKS is also detected along Jalan Yos Sudarso, like across the street of Artha Gading. 

Meanwhile, Ika Lestari Aji, Head of North Jakarta Social Sub-Department, her sub-department has done a multi-sector coordination meeting to overcome the PMKS in such areas. In accordance with Governor Instruction No. 53/2014, PMKS handling will be conducted simultaneously, by involving Parks Sub-Department, Transportation Sub-Department, Road Public Works Sub-Department, Satpol PP, regional units.

She assessed that all this time, several PMKS-prone areas on Jalan Yos Sudarso needs to be monitored continuously. Those areas are under Plumpang toll road, Mambo traffic light, around Pasar Permai and Artha Gading.
