Next Week, Untung Jawa Island Festival

This is a routine event to attract more tourists

For those of you who want to spend your weekend holiday, it would be nice to visit the Untung Jawa Island Festival in Thousand Islands.

Thousand Islands Tourism and Culture Sub-department Head, Cucu Ahmad Kurnia said that various Betawi art and culture performances, as well as modern music would enliven the festival.

"This is a routine event to attract more tourists," he expressed, Monday (2/4).

Rusli, Head of Untung Jawa Island's Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis) who also serves as the festival committee expressed, it will begin with a tasyakuran and dzikir (thankfulness) on February 13, and then continue with a series of Betawi arts and culture, prize giving and folk entertainment on February 16.

He expressed that a series of activities have been started since today by holding various competitions and entertainment. 

Then winner’s announcement will be set at the peak of the festival celebration.

Its celebration peak will fall on February 17 by displaying decorated boats festival, culinary festival, healthy walk, as well as charity for orphans and dhuafa (the poor). 

"We also have various types of traditional Betawi food and island specialties," he said.
