Fire Handling Socialization Given in Densely Populated Settlement

Fire handling socialization is given to 50 residents of RT 07/06, Kampung Dukuh, Kebayoran Lama Utara Urban Village, Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta. It is to prepare the locals thus they are able to handle fire early before firefighters arrive.

South Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue (Gulkarmat) Sub-department's Kebayoran Lama Sub-district Sector 1 Head, Usman Niman mentioned that Kampung Dukuh is categorized as densely populated settlement. Fire is potential to spread quickly because houses are built close to each other.
"We hope the locals can understand how to prevent and handle the fire caused by short circuit or gas leakage," he mentioned, Monday (2/11).

"We train them to extinguish fire. They can equip themselves with fire extinguisher (APAR) if possible," he said.
RT 07/06 Head, Sandung Saptono mentioned, residents asked him to hold fire handling socialization because lately fire incident often occurs in the neighborhood and one of the cause is leak on the gas stove's hose.
"Our houses is close to each other, so we should be able to anticipate fire, especially that is caused by gas leakage. At least, we want to be able to prevent fire from spreading," he explained.
