Waste Management Education Given to 17 Adiwiyata 2018's Schools Nominees

Jakarta Environment (LH) Department invited 17 schools which are nominated in Adiwiyata 2018 at provincial level to visit Jakarta LH Department office in Cililitan, East Jakarta for waste management education.

It is done to commemorate National Waste Care Day (HPSN) which is celebrated on February 21

Those schools are SD Negeri Gedong 05 Pagi, SD Negeri Kelapa Dua Wetan 03, SD Negeri Pulau Kelapa 02 Pagi, SD Negeri Jelambar 03, SD Negeri Cengkareng Timur 21, SD Negeri Lagoa 11, SD Negeri Kelapa Dua Wetan 06, SD Negeri Semper Barat 13, SD Negeri Kebon Bawang 05, SD Swasta Strada Wiyatasana, SMP Negeri 121, SMA Negeri 95, SMA Negeri 65, SMA Negeri 69, SMA Negeri 1,SMK Negeri 16, and SMK Santa Maria. Each school was represented by 4 students and 1 teacher. Thus there are 85 participants in total.

"It is done to commemorate National Waste Care Day (HPSN) which is celebrated on February 21. We want to educate them how to manage waste from the source, starts from waste sorting to limiting plastic bag usage," mentioned Joko Riyanto, Jakarta LH Department's Community Participation Division Head, Monday (2/18).

Waste Management Socialization in Seribu Islands Intensified

This event was held with theme "Waste in Your School" and "Indonesia Plastic Bag Diet Movement". His side also invited speaker from Waste4Change community to educate and encourage participants to be accustomed in maintaining clean environment.

"We prioritize to educate Adiwiyata 2018's school nominees first because later they will be assessed for national level," he said.

He hopes students who participate in this event can be a role model for other students. Next, his side plans to invite them to visit Bantar Gebang TPST.
