City Takes Action against ISIS Movements

Jakarta Provincial Government strongly rejects the existence of Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) movement in Indonesia. To prevent the ideology from spreading in Jakarta, city government will increase coordination with related parties and conduct socialization to the citizens.

Head of Nation Unity and Politics Board (Kesbangpol), Fatahillah, said that so far his party is coordinating with security forces, such as the Indonesian Army (TNI), police, National Intelligent Agency (BIN), and the Immigration, as well as Religious Ministry and other related institutions.

“We’re increasing coordination and cooperation optimally with regional leader elements, starting from urban villages, sub-districts, municipalities/regencies, and provinces,” he stated, at City Hall, Monday (8/18).

According to Fatahillah, mass organization figures have been gathered by the central government to discuss and take action to prevent ISIS circulation in the capital city. Such a thing is conducted because the existence of ISIS is worried to have negative impacts on Indonesia’s ideology of Pancasila and diversity as well as threaten the wholeness of Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).

To anticipate the rise of movement done by society that adhere ISIS ideology, Kesbangpol will empower the roles of community partnership forums like FKDM, FKUB, and FPK. The citizens are urged not to easily be influenced by ISIS ideology spread by certain groups or networks.
