KIR Test Crowded, Jalan Raya Bekasi Still Congested

It has been the last two weeks, the motorcyclists are stuck in traffic congestion on Jalan Raya Bekasi, East Jakarta, particularly from Jakarta towards Bekasi. This is because, although the ranks of Motor Vehicle Testing (PKB) or vehicle road worthiness test (KIR) in Ujung Menteng have closed the gate as long queue prevention, there are still many vehicles recklessly waiting for the gates reopened.

Such condition is caused by the closure of PKB Kedaung Angke, West Jakarta, by Jakarta Vice Governor Basuki 'Ahok' Purnama. While in the PKB Cilincing, can only serve 160 vehicles to undergo KIR.

KIR Test in Pulogadung and Ujung Menteng Crowded

A number of motorists are disappointed because of they did not get a queue number, even though they have arrived at 6 AM in the PKB Ujung Menteng. "At 9 AM, the gate is closed. Whereas we've lined up from 6 AM. I am very disappointed. If I do not undergo KIR, my vehicle will be ticketed," complained Sukirno (50), a truck driver, Monday (8/18).

As quoted by beritajakarta.com, to outsmart queue number distribution, not a few drivers who are already lining up in the PKB Ujung Menteng since at 2 AM. This is because the PKB Ujung Menteng has limited the kir participant from 450-500 vehicles per day.

According to Joko Santoso, Head of PKB Ujung Menteng Management Technical Unit, since there is diversion from PKB Kedaung Angke, kir participant keeps creeping up in a day. That is why the amount of kir participant was limited to 500 vehicles per day. On normal day, the management only serves 400 vehicles type taxi, pick-up carl, truck, until container.

In PKB Ujung Menteng, there are three kir test lanes for motorcycle and 47 officers are ready to handle them. Due to kir participant is high, officers then immediately open the gate at 5 AM. But they are not processed directly, yet officers should input the data first.

Then at 7 AM, kir operational can already be conducted. As a matter of fact, truk drivers already lined up since 2 AM. Previously, its implementation was ended at 3 PM, but now at 5-6 PM.
