Urban farming groups in Central Jakarta have proven that citizens can produce their own vegetables in Jaya Molek Child-Friendly Integrated Public Space (RPTRA), Pasar Baru, Sawah Besar, Central Jakarta, despite the city is limited space.

Yes, citizens along with RPTRA caretakers seemed enthusiastic about harvesting 72 net pots of lettuce from hydroponic shelves.

After harvest, the results will be sold at Rp 5,000 per net pot to people living around the park.
"Of 72 net pots, 54 out of them were sold out by collecting Rp 270,000," she told.
Besides lettuce, they also plant other vegetables and Toga (family medicine plants). Those plants are pakcoy, cucumber suri, bitter melon, purple eggplant, long beans, oyong, ginger, turmeric, lemongrass, kencur (galanga), and kumis kucing (cat whiskers).
"Locals here are so enthusiastic. We invite them when harvest is close, yet some directly buy," she told.
As experienced by Anidah (38), one of citizens admitted that he came to the park to see the harvest process and buy some.
"This is organic vegetable, so I want to try. The harvest here is good, despite the city’s limited s
pace," she said.
