Disparbud is Optimistic to Achieve This Year's Target

Jakarta Tourism and Culture Department (Disparbud) is targeting to reach 41.4 million tourists, consist of 2.9 million foreign tourists and 38.5 local tourists in 2019.

Jakarta Disparbud Head, Edy Junaedi conveyed that his side has achieved the target in 2018 with total 2,8131,411 foreign tourists and 34,192,577 local tourists who have visited Jakarta.

His side plans to increase number of visitors through collaborative participatory approach with all stakeholders and Jakartans.
"Jakarta Government, through Disparbud, should play a big role, not only as a regulator or facilitator, but also as an operator. Here, I analogize Disparbud as a super travel agent where we need to collaborate with associations and stakeholders in tourism sector," he said.
He considered, tourism sector is very promising to improve Jakarta's economy and regional revenue (PAD) through hotel tax, restaurant tax, entertainment tax, and retribution.
"Last year, we obtained around Rp 5.76 trillion. It is a huge number. It shows us that Jakarta has a great potential in tourism and we need to optimize it," he stated.
Meanwhile, Jakarta Disparbud's Information and Development Division Head, Alberto Ali conveyed, his side will intensify tourism promotion, especially via social media.
"We will be more informative in promoting tourist destinations and cultural art destinations in Jakarta in order to attract more visitors," he stated.
