Reported by Rudi Hermawan | Translated by Nugroho Adibrata
Jakarta Provincial Government rejected the decision of the North Jakarta District Court that states Jakarta government should pay land compensation by Rp 35 million square per meter to the citizens affected by the construction of Port toll road, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta.
I was disappointed. Besides Jakarta, the impact would also affect the national. They should know and I won't stop here. I will propose an appeal soon
North Jakarta Mayor, Heru Budi Hartono revealed judge's decision does not make sense. This is because, citizens' land price only reaches Rp 12 million square per meter
"I was disappointed. Besides Jakarta, the impact would also affect the national. They should know and I won't stop here. I will propose an appeal soon," he stated, at City Hall, Friday (8/22).
Surilang Reservoir Widening Constrained of Land AcquisitionSuch decision, he continued, does not only harm Jakarta government but also public transport users. Moreover, toll road construction aims to parse traffic congestion.
"Can you imagine, if Jakarta is congested one day, it will spread everywhere. But if our toll road project could be realized quickly, congestion will be minimized. I'll fight legally and I will not pay compensation," he asserted.
Previously, he said the Kalibaru citizens already agreed with compensation amount set by appraisal team. Meanwhile in Koja, although there will be a civil suit, its citizens have received compensation from the government. That means, in the next week, the land could already be used for toll road construction.
"From our socialization to locals, citizens in Kalibaru have understood and allow us to use their land, Likewise with citizens in Koja. But for land, they will propose civil suit in accordance with desired price," he explained.
According to Hartono, toll road project cannot be cancelled due to it affects on economic aspect. Congestion from project is often spreading to Cawang, East Jakarta.
"If we cancel the project, it will be detrimental to locals. Next week, it can already be carried out. Locals also have been agreed. Regarding incompatibility of land price, they will pursue a civil suit," he told.
He furthered his party could not grant the citizens' request who ask a high price, because there is rule that must be executed. Thus, it must be based on the tax value of the properties (NJOP) or appraisal team's decision.
"If the court states there must be a higher compensation, the government will do it. But there will be evaluation process first, if the government proposes an appeal," he stated.
The Tanjung Priok Port's toll road project has a length of 11.58 kilometers. They consist of section E1 (Cilincing Rorotan) as long as 3.4 kilometers, section E2 (Cilincing- Jampea) as long as 2.74 kilometers, section E2A (Jampea-Jampea Junction) as long as 1.92 kilometers, section NS (Jampea Junction-Yos Sudarso) as long as 2.42 kilometers, and section NS (Direct Ramp) as long as 1.1 kilometers.
