January-May 21, 1.5 Million People Visited Public Libraries in Jakarta

Public Libraries which managed by Jakarta Library and Archive Department (Dispusip) has been visited by 1.5 million people from January to May 21, 2019.

Our target is 2 million visitors this year

Those public libraries are Cikini Public Library, stationary libraries, mobile libraries, libraries in RPTRAs, library in Thousand Islands Library and Archive Department office, Jakarta Community Library (Permata) 1 and 2, then HB Jassin Literary Documentation Center (PDS).

Dispusip Plans to Add 21,000 New Book Collections

Jakarta Dispusip Head, Wahyu Haryadi mentioned, last year his side could achieved 3.1 million visitors with target 1.8 million visitors.

"Our target is 2 million visitors this year. Knowing that our libraries have been visited by 1.5 million people per May 21, we are optimistic to reach our target this year," he explained, Thursday (5/23).

According to him, Dispusip plans to add more events and invite communities and stakeholders to participate in it.

"We hope there are more people who are interested to visit our libraries. We have various book collections and its place can be also used for events or activities to promote increased literacy," he conveyed.
