Regent Hopes Local Wisdom Can Increase More Tourist Visits

Residents living on Kelapa Dua, held the 15th Syukuran Laut Festival at the Arung Palakka RPTRA, Kelapa Island Urban Village, North Thousand Islands.

It is held as an expression of gratitude for the citizens over the sea results and silaturahmi (friendly gathering).

"We appreciate them who keep preserving tradition and culture well," expressed Thousand Islands Vice Regent, Junaedi, Wednesday (6/26).

It is hoped that it could become local wisdom as an annual tourist attraction in a bid to attract more tourist and increase the economy of residents.

Kelapa Dua Island's 15th Syukuran Laut Festival Committee Chairperson, Amir Syamsudin added that it was enlivened by various activities such as, parades of dozens of fishermen's ornamental boats, larung sesaji (the ritual is started by preparing the boat that will carry the offerings), and Bugis food bazaars such as seppang cake, epe banana, ewako green banana and various traditional art performances.

"Thank God this year's sea products will be more abundant," he uttered.
