30 Connecting Channels in East Jakarta Normalized

The settlements and roads in East Jakarta are often inundated when rain pours because many water channels are clogged with trashes. From 130 connecting channels (PHB) in the municipality, 30 of them are not functioned optimally due to full of trashes.

There are about 30 connecting channels normalized. We’re targeting the normalization work finish before December

To resolve the matter, East Jakarta Water Management Public Works Sub-Department is currently active in normalizing those 30 connecting channels which located in 10 sub-districts.

“There are about 30 connecting channels normalized. Their width is around 6-8 meters, but their length is varied, depends on the condition in the field. We’re targeting the normalization work finish before December,” stated Head of East Jakarta Water Management Public Works Sub-Department, Henry Dunant, Wednesday (8/27).

Tambun Rengas Channel will Be Normalized Soon

According to Dunant, this connecting channels normalization project uses self-management fund. But, one thing for sure is that the budget for this project is much more frugal than other projects.

“That is because we’re only spending money to mobilize the heavy equipment to the project locations and pay the heavy equipment operator,” he uttered.
