The Jakarta Environment Agency conducts sudden inspection (sidak) and law enforcement towards two industries in East Jakarta as they polluted the air beyond the threshold.

They must obey the rules and have a high concern to jointly improve air quality in Jakarta

It is done in the context of controlling emission of immovable sources from industry and following up Governor Instruction No. 66/2019 on Air Quality Control.

Jakarta Environment Agency Head, Andono Warih said that sanction is given to them to fix the performance of chimney emissions control within 45 days.

"They break and exceed the quality standards required in Environment Minister's Regulation No. 13/2009 on Emission Quality Standards of Immovable Sources for Business and Governor Decree No. 670/200 on Quality Standards for Emission from Immovable Sources in Jakarta," he expressed, Thursday (8/8).

If the sanction is ignored, other sanctions will be given such as permit suspension, permit revocation and criminal.

" They must obey the rules and have a high concern to jointly improve air quality in Jakarta ," he asserted.

While for supervised components include, fulfillment of chimney technical specifications, output air quality standards and the obligation to independently measure emissions every six months by the industry in collaboration with accredited environmental laboratories.

"They have an obligation to provide reports to the Environment Agency," he told.

He added that supervision of industrial compliance with environmental provisions has been carried out routinely.

"The public can also make complaints about alleged environmental pollution by the industry. We will immediately act on it," he stated.
