Agriculture Agency Looks to Agriculture Ministry for Chili Cultivation

Chili is a strategic commodity and has high economic value. Moreover, the availability and price are very influential on inflation and the national economy.

It is targeted to do it on a five-hectare land

Seeing that, the Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture and Food Security Agency along with Agriculture Ministry seeks new opportunities to expand chili cultivation in the capital through the Directorate General of Horticulture along with Agency for Agricultural Technology Studies (BPTP).

Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture and Food Security Agency Head, Darjamuni said that his party along with BPTP had identified, coordinated locations and conducted a survey of Prospective Farmer Candidates for Location (CPCL) in six places.

50,000 Chili Seeds Distributed to Citizens

"From those six places, we touched Garden Jaya Farmer Group, Rorotan and Marunda Flat in North Jakarta, East Canal Flood Farmer Group, Duren Sawit and Bambu Apus Farmer Group, Cipayung in East Jakarta, Maju Bersama Farmer Group, Ulujami and Kebun Berseri Farmer Group in South Jakarta," he explained.

By doing so the chili cultivation in the capital is hoped could further realize food security and further stabilize the price of chili.

"It is targeted to do it on a five-hectare land," he stated.
