Rp 20 B for RTH Revitalization in W. Jakarta

The amount of missing green belts is about 20 percent out of 100. This is because there are some interests, such as road widening, river normalization, and street lighting

Target of constructing green open space (RTH) in the capital is not an easy thing. Besides requiring large land, funds should also be allocated to smoothen the program. Especially in West Jakarta, at least Rp 20 billion is much needed this year for 16 repair and RTH revitalization activities, either park, green belt, or Public Cemetery (TPU).

In addition to replace damaged plants, West Jakarta Parks Sub-Department also plans to install damaged green belt fences and build planters in a bid to prevent flooding, like along green belt on Jalan Tubagus Angke.

We remain optimistic the remaining time is only about three months to re-forest all RTHs, and absorb the entire budget. All of the documents are currently under evaluation in the Goods and Service Procurement Unit (ULP) and is hoped can approved by the end of this month," said Head Section of Green Belt for West Jakarta Parks Sub-Department, Kadirun, Thursday (9/4).

Kadirun mentions around 200 existing parks are damaged. His sub-department has yet to conduct the revitalization and repair this year because of its budget is still in auction process by the ULP.

"The amount of missing green belts is about 20 percent out of 100. This is because there are some interests, such as road widening, river normalization, and street lighting," he explained.

Such green belt in West Jakarta is indeed worrying, which located on Jalan Tubagus Angke, Grogol Petamburan, Jalan Pedongkelan at the edge of Cengkareng Drain River, Cengkareng, Jalan Lingkar Luar Cengkareng, Jembatan Besi on the edge of West Flood Canal (KBB) River, Jalan Daan Mogot and Jalan Latumenten from Grogol's red light until Jembatan Besi.

Even the grass around the green belt become dry due to sunlight and many trees are dead. Then its soil already chipped. Not only that, some of the green belt function on Jalan Daan Mogot has changed due to elevation and road widening.
