As planned, similar raid will be held in 30 illegal-prone areas in Jakarta.
Tow Sanction Officially Applied for Four-Wheeled VehiclesJakarta Vice Governor, Basuki 'Ahok' Purnama disclosed that tow and fine sanction is the first step to control illegal parking. "This is a good way and can give deterrent effect to offender. If the illegal parking is still rampant, we will do firmer action," he expressed, at City Hall, Monday (9/8).
Besides four-wheeled vehicles, he stated, the sanction would also be applied to two-wheeled vehicles.
"We're currently discussing the bylaw on tow cost and drafting towing system for motorcycle. By so, we could bring five motorcycles in a single raid," he explained.
He admitted his party received complaints related to the lack of parking lot. Not only that, the parking fees must be made expensive in order to minimize the rate of vehicle users.
"In foreign country, parking fees is very expensive. The point is the system can run consistently but it will be initiated with snapping first. The most feared thing by Jakartans is to spend money for fine," he exclaimed.
Meanwhile, regarding parking meter system implementation, his party is still facing constraints.
"Its implementation is still undergoing, but there is problem in its delivery machine like in Sabang. It's probably three weeks," he stated.
