Vehicles Parked at Night Will Also Be Towed

Jakarta Provincial Government is determined to wipe out all illegal parking locations in the capital city which have causing traffic congestion. To do that, the raid against illegal parking will also be done at night.

Later, if we had enough people, those who parked in forbidden locations at night will also be towed

Jakarta Vice Governor Basuki T Purnama said at this time the city government is still concentrating on controlling illegal parking from morning until afternoon.

“Later, if we had enough people, those who parked in forbidden locations at night will also be towed,” he stated, Friday (9/12).

Basuki assessed that illegal parking raid held by Jakarta Transportation Department that cooperates with TNI and police is quite effective.

“Not bad. The streets in Cilincing and Kalibata are now no longer congested. So, we’ll continuously hold raid against illegal parking in Jakarta,” he asserted.

To get optimal result, Basuki continued, Jakarta Provincial Government plans to add more towing cars.

“The important thing is that the wary effect can be seen. Jakartans are wary if fined for Rp 500 thousand. If it’s worked, we just need to add towing cars,” he uttered.

Basuki admitted that he is optimistic the procurement of new towing cars would not be tackled by Jakarta Parliament (DPRD).

“Not all DPRD (members) think of tackling. If they wanted to tackle, no need to discuss anything,” he said.

In addition, Basuki disclosed that Jakarta Provincial Government is also currently preparing raid against motorcycles parked haphazardly.

“In the raid for motorcycles, we need to prepare the tools to tow the motorcycles,” he informed.
