As many as five dump trucks were deployed in this action. The trashes which picked up from the sewers were then put into sand bags and loaded to the dump trucks before finally transported to Bantar Gebang Integrated Waste Treatment Area (TPST), Bekasi. In addition, two trash containers were put in the location.

“We also instructed the janitors to pick up the trashes once in two days so the trash won’t piling. This communal cleaning will also be done in other locations, because we want all sewers and residents’ environment in West Jakarta clean from trash,” uttered Widyastuti.

Meanwhile, Chief of RW 10 Cengkareng Barat, Rasudin, admitted that the flood which often hit his area is triggered by sewers filled with trashes and mud. As a result, water flow to Apuran River becomes hampered.

“During rainy season, our area is always flooded for as high as 80 centimeters to one meter. To resolve it, we ask West Jakarta Administration to dredge the sewers and build waterway from the border of RW 12 Cengkareng Barat and RW 02 North Jakarta area,” he said.
