Residents Welcome Positively Communal IPAL Installation in Tebet

Communal Wastewater Treatment Installation (IPAL) construction at RT 08/10, Tebet Timur, Tebet, South Jakarta is welcomed by the locals. It is built as a part of community sanitation program called Simaskota.

RT 08/10 Tebet Timur Head, Mulyadi as the local's representative thanked for the sides who are involved in this Communal IPAL construction. Currently, he added, there are 9 houses with total 80 families who participate in Simaskota program.
"It makes us excited to build it in each houses. In the future, we hope this program can be applied in other houses," he expressed, Wednesday (12/18).
Central Jakarta SDA Builds 4 Communal IPALs in MentengTebet Timur Secretary, Salim Elfuar explained, this Communal IPAL is managed by the locals and contains of 8 septic tanks, one basin, and one mini IPAL. There are 80 families or 209 people who get the benefits from this program.
"In the past, people often threw feces to the river. But after Simaskota was introduced, each houses built IPALs that connected to the Communal IPAL," he mentioned.
Simaskota Program Coordinator, Iin Mendah added, Simaskota is a program that improves and provides the sanitation infrastructures while leading the residents to change their sanitation behavior .
"Communal IPAL septic tank's capacity reaches 9,075 cubic meters. As well as the volume of bio filter tank. In South Jakarta, there is around 10-15 percent of population that still need intensive and innovative sanitation treatment," she asserted.
