Jakarta Vice Governor, Basuki 'Ahok' T Purnama assessed the implementation of tow sanction conducted by Jakarta Transportation Department in the capital city is still unoptimal. Hence, he plans to hand over it to private side.
"Our tow truck is sufficient, yet its officer is lazy. They only crack down 2-3 cars and then take a rest. In the leadership meeting yesterday, I had asked Deputy Head of Jakarta Transportation Department to find private parties which want to handle tow sanction," said Basuki, at City Hall, Wednesday (9/17).
Tow Sanction Officially Applied for Four-Wheeled VehiclesHe disclosed, by involving private sector, tow truck can operate for 24 hours and cast deterrent effect maximally to the offenders.
"If we make a deal with private party, we will do payment per car. I think this is a good idea," he expressed.
Former Regent of East Belitung uttered at this time, his party is still preparing the right way and rule to realize the plan of privatization of tow truck. This is because, according to bylaw on tow truck, offender is only charged a fine of Rp 500 thousand.
"I just want we can absorb the fine and then paid to private party. Currently we're busy making a legal basis. If there is no legal basis, the fine will be given to them from each sanction," he explained.
According to him, such fine was merely applied to give deterrent effect to the offender. "If Transportation Department could work quickly, we would do tender next week," he expressed.
