Inundation on Several Roads in North Jakarta Starts to Recede

Inundation in North Jakarta gradually recedes. Several roads that were inundated last night, now can be passed by vehicles.

Hopefully it wouldn't rain this afternoon thus inundation could recede quickly

North Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-department Head, Adrian Mara Maulana explained, currently several roads such as Jl. Yos Sudarso, Enggano, Perintis Kemerdekaan, and residential roads in Koja are not flooded. While Jalan Gunung Sahari is still inundated for about 10 centimeters high near Mangga Dua WTC.

"Ciliwung Lama River capacity is full. We have pumped the water but since there is a gap on sheet pile, water seeps out," he mentioned, Wednesday (1/2).

Meanwhile, Kelapa Gading area such as Jl. Boulevard Raya and most residential roads in Kelapa Gading Timur Urban Village began to recede. The highest point of inundation on Jl. Boulevard Raya is in front of MKG as high as 30 centimeters.

Inundation on several residential roads in Cilincing also starts to recede. Recently, Sunter River and Cakung Drain capacity is still full while sea water is also high, thus it takes longer time for those areas to be completely dry.

"This morning, water from the upstream flow to the river while sea level is still high. Hopefully it wouldn't rain this afternoon thus inundation could recede quickly," he conveyed.

North Jakarta Assistant, Abdul Khalit explained, his side provided 23 shelters with total 1,365 evacuees. Logistic assistance such as instant foods, carpet, blanket, pampers, sanitary napkins, then staple foods such as rice, eggs, cooking oil, sardines, and soy sauce have been given to evacuees.
