He explained that the increase in performance allowance would also be adjusted to the local financial condition. Therefore, there would be a meeting with the Development Planning Board (Bappeda).
"The majority of councils want to support, but this must also be adjusted to local finances," he explained.
Jakarta Education Agency Head Nahdiana added that the agency would try to accommodate PGMI's proposal through the budget posture.
"We think this is indeed allocated for fellow teachers in madrassas with ASN status," he told.
In the meantime, Jakarta PGMI DPW Chairman Makhrus uttered that the proposal was to equalize teacher allowances in madrasa schools with ASN status with public school teachers who have allowances ranging from Rp 6 million to Rp 12 million.
"But it is not felt by teachers from Madrasah Ibtidaiyah, Tsanawiyah and Aliyah, they only receive Rp 1 million, which is paid double every four month," he stressed.
He hoped that this hearing could be the first step to further improve the welfare of madrasa teachers.
"There are currently 7,000 madrasa teachers with ASN status under Jakarta PGMI DPW. Hopefully there will be a joint solution between the Education Agency and the Kanwil Religion Ministry," he said.
