To reduce plastic consumption in Jakarta, the Central Jakarta administration has called on residents to start carrying their own tumblers, instead of buying bottled water.
It is compliance with Gubernatorial Regulation number 142/2019 on Obligations to Use Environmentally Friendly Shopping Bags at Shopping Centers, Supermarkets and Folk Markets.
Tumbler Campaign Carried Out by Semper Timur Urban VillageCentral Jakarta Vice Mayor Irwandi said this regulation could be started from ASN by giving examples to the public to use tumblers.
"In every executive meeting at the office, we are required to carry our own tumblers," he expressed, Wednesday (1/15).
Actually the policy has been ongoing since December 2019 and the public is expected to be able to follow it.
"We invite people to slowly switch not to using plastic," he stated.
