Mentawai Islands DPRD Learns Thousand Islands' Tourism Development

Eight members of Mentawai Islands Regency DPRD's Commission III from West Sumatera, conducted a working visit (kunker) on tourism development in Thousand Islands, Thursday (1/30).

Our visit is aimed to study how to manage tourism and increase regional income from the Thousand Islands

"Our visit is aimed to study how to manage tourism and increase regional income from the Thousand Islands," disclosed Mentawai Islands Regency DPRD's Commission Member Fernando Sabajo.

Despite the Mentawai Islands are geographically the same, tourists only come at certain times in contrast to the Thousand Islands, where tourists always come on regular days and national holiday.

"We want to find out what kind of management that is used to attract tourists," he added.

Responding on this matter, Thousand Islands Regent Husein Murad positively welcomed the visit and thanked for making the Thousand Islands as a comparative study site for tourism management.

"Surely we still continue to learn together, which is clear we benefit from a location that is close to the capital city, cheap and easy transportation access," he stated.
