Local Residents Support Ciliwung River to Be Ecotourism Destination

South Jakarta Tourism and Culture Sub-department (Sudinparbud)'s plan to develop ecotourism on Ciliwung River area gets supports from Jagakarsa Sub-district residents.

It would be great if this place can be developed for ecotourism

One of Lenteng Agung Urban Village residents, Erna considered Ciliwung River cleanliness can be maintained if it is arranged for ecotourism destination.

"I hope this plan can prevent people from littering on the banks and the body of Ciliwung River," she conveyed.

South Jakarta Plans to Develop Ecotourism on Ciliwung River

Sabili (41), resident of RT 05/07 Srengseng Sawah supports government who wants to set this area as an ecotourism destination because it can bring many positive impacts for local residents and environment.

"It would be great if this place can be developed for ecotourism. Because I believe environment cleanliness and nature conservation in this area could be maintained. Besides, it could improve economy of the locals who live near the tourist attraction," he said.

Regarding Ecotourism development, South Jakarta Sudinparbud Head, Imron conveyed, his side plans to invite visitors to walk by the Ciliwung River from Srengseng Sawah Urban Village to Lenteng Agung Urban Village.

"Walking distance is around 1.5 kilometers. It is still a concept. We need to review it further such as its safety. Maybe we will combine it with other cultural arts promotions," he said.
