This Year, Go Jakfarm Program Targets to Plant 200,000 Crops

Jakarta Maritime Agriculture and Food Security (KPKP) Department targets Go Jakfarm program to plant 200,000 trees this year.

We want Go Jakfarm to support urban farming development in Jakarta

From that target, Jakarta KPKP Department Head, Darjamuni expects to plant 50,000 fruit trees, 100,000 vegetables, 30,000 herbs, and 20,000 secondary crops.

"We want Go Jakfarm to support urban farming development in Jakarta," he stated, Monday (2/10).

South Jakarta KPKP Plans to Add 100 Green Alleys This Year

In order to realize the target, his side attempts to carry out One Day One Seed action. It means, each civil apparatus and Other Individual Service Providers (PJLP) personnel in KPKP Department should bring one fruit seed per day.

"It is run to support the availability of fruit seeds that will be produced by Center for Seed Development and Plant Protection," he added.

Besides, his side will also carry out Jumat Menanam by planting seeds in empty lands owned by government offices, private companies, communities and fallow lands.

"Go Jakfarm priors the collaboration which involves all stakeholders, from the urban farmers to private companies," he asserted.

According to him, urban farming gives benefits, such as to maintain food security and improve people's economy.

"Moreover, urban farming also improves community nutrition intakes because it becomes easier for them to consume vegetables and fruits, preserve the environment, and improve the air quality," he uttered.

For information, KPKP Department has launched Go Jakfarm program on Friday, February 7th, 2020 at Kamal Muara Nursery Garden, North Jakarta.
