KPK & BPK will Be Involved in the Committee of 2018 Asian Games

Jakarta Provincial Government is about to involve the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) as a preparatory committee for the 2018 Asian Games. It aims to avoid corruption in the implementation of the biggest sporting event in the Asia.

Deputy Governor of Jakarta Tourism and Culture Division, Sylviana Murni disclosed her party asked the KPK and BPK to participate in the committee of the 2018 Asian Games as corruption mitigation. Moreover, Jakarta was chosen as host and liability for the provision of venues and the athletes lodging.

"I want the KPK and BPK involved as committee of the 2108 Asian Games. E-catalogue must be prepared in the committee," she uttered, at City Hall, Tuesday (9/23).

According to her, Jakarta government and central government have shared the task in the provision of sport venues. There are other two cities which will assist them, namely Pelembang and Bandung. Jakarta government will be responsible for existing venues in the capital, especially those outside the Senayan area and Kemayoran. As for the Kemayoran and Senayan, is the responsibility of the central government. As planned, new venues would be built, such as BMW Park (BMW) Stadium, Sunter, North Jakarta.

Despite there is a ban on the construction, but it will remain be conducted. This is because the BMW Park Stadium does not the main venue. In addition, some venues will only be repaired, either light or heavy rehabilitation, such as bike racing velodrome in Rawamangun, East Jakarta.

"The BMW park will be made as alternative media because we already have the main venue 'Bung Karno Stadium'. This matter was already discussed with Mr. Ahok and in Incheon, South Korea," she told.

While for athlete lodging, the existing facility in Jakarta State University (UNJ) is planned to be used.

"We have to prepare the athlete lodging, media center, and headquarter. Because we should have 13 thousand or 7,500 bed rooms. In UNJ, we plan to build a lodging that can be used as a dormitory athletes," explained Sylviana.

As known, Basuki had signed an agreement Jakarta as the host of the 2018 Asian Games. For the success of its implementation, Jakarta will get assistance from Bandung and Palembang as supporting city.
