The Jakarta Fire and Rescue (Gulkarmat) Agency Head Satriadi Gunawan, holds socialization and education to citizens to be more concerned about fire dangers. One of them is how to handle fire early.

Hopefully they (citizens) can be more aware of fire dangers

"We have a commitment to remove the distance from the community thus fire suppression efforts run optimally," he expressed, Tuesday (2/18).

His agency is also ready to accept invitations from people who need more information about fire fighting. Like Ngongko's activities at Bale Warga, which were initiated by citizens of RW 10, Jati Padang Urban Village, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta.

"Ngongko activity took the topic with the community to increase awareness of fire hazards. This is very good and surely we support," he explained.

He explained that firefighters must visit citizens that is socializing danger or preventing fire and coordinating with the community.

"No gap between the firefighter and the community. We always do coordination with locals. Don't think we only work when disaster occurs," he stressed.

He assessed socialization with locals is very good, as it is packed casually and a discussion or question and answer session that can create a good relationship. It aims to make the citizens more aware of how to prevent and overcome fire.

"Similar action will be done consecutively. I also want to see the active sector in the management of the region," he exclaimed.

In addition, all RT/RW caretakers must have the fire agency's contact number at 112. Thus socialization can be held massively.

"We want a fire disaster response. Hopefully they (citizens) can be more aware of fire dangers," he stated.
