Jakarta Vice Governor Election is Agreed Through Closed Voting

Jakarta Council (DPRD) agreed to carry out vice governor election for the remaining period of 2017-2022 through closed voting mechanism.

We will ensure DPRD to work fast based on the regulation and procedures

Jakarta Consultative Board (Bamus) Deputy Chairman, Mohammad Taufik conveyed, in Joint Leadership Meeting (Rapimgab), legislators have agreed to the Standing Orders and mechanism for selecting vice governor of Jakarta.

"Insya Allah, we will hold Paripurna Meeting on Wednesday, February 18th, 2020 at 13:00," he informed after Rapimgab discussing Ministry of Home Affairs' evaluation result regarding DPRD Standing Orders Draft and mechanism for selecting vice governor, at Jakarta DPRD Building on Tuesday (2/18).

He explained, DPRD Leadership's decision that was taken that day referred to the result of DPRD special committee on the previous period which agreed that the election would be conducted through a closed vote.

"Fit and proper test towards vice governor candidates will be done through dialog or question and answer mechanism in the open plenary forum," he conveyed.

In the near future, his side will immediately form election committee to prepare all selection stages of Jakarta vice governor.

"We will ensure DPRD to work fast based on the regulation and procedures," he added.

For information, two supporting factions have agreed that each would propose one vice governor candidate namely, Nurmansjah Lubis and Ahmad Riza Patria to be chosen by Jakarta DPRD's Legislators to accompany Jakarta Govenor, Anies Baswedan.
