I had to use tarps because my merchandise is often wet during rainy season. The pole and its roof have also rusted, I worry it will collapse someday
Based on beritajakarta.com observations, many roads in front of the Lokbin are damaged and inundated. And some stalls seemed full with scribbles. While the roof leaked and its pole has rusted as well as many stalls used as a fish crates warehouse. Not only that, some facilities look dirty and slum, such as toilet.
"I had to use tarps because my merchandise is often wet during rainy season. The pole and its roof have also rusted, I worry it will collapse someday," expressed Neneng (42), a vegetable peddler, Wednesday (9/24).
Susukan Lokbin NeglectedSari, (50), a Lokbin security officers stated that previously, the lokbin was crowded by peddlers and buyers. But they left their stalls because there was no renovation from government. Even, the entrance door has been occupied by street vendors.
"The lokbin has 80 stalls inside, but only 40 of them are active. Then the rest are damage and used as banana and fish crates warehouse," he explained.
Responding on this matter, Head of East Jakarta Cooperatives, Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises and Trade (KUMKMP), Albertus Michael disclosed renovation and construction of the lokbin is the authority of the department.
"We just focus on supervision and guidance," he asserted.
