Today, Pondok Ranggon Sodetan Development Completed

The Pondok Ranggon sodetan (crossing channel) development from Sunter River to Pondok Ranggon I Reservoir as long as 15 meters with 3 meters width and 4 meters depth keeps being accelerated. Its development has touched 70 percent.

To minimize flooding, the river water is diverted and parked in the Pondok Ranggon I Reservoir

It is carried out to anticipate flooding in Cipayung, Lubang Buaya, Pinang Ranti, Makasar, Halim Perdanakusua, Kebon Pala, Cipinang Melayu and Pondok Bambu areas.

"To minimize flooding, the river water is diverted and parked in the Pondok Ranggon I Reservoir," expressed East Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency Head, Santo, Monday (3/2).

This work has been carried out since the end of February and is targeted to complete today and has touched the reservoir. The sodetan condition is left to remain natural without U-ditch and concrete due to unfinished construction in the reservoir area.

Nevertheless, the reservoir has been built with seven meters depth, which can accommodate around 210,000 cubic meters of water.

"If it is done, we will continue to another sodetan work that connects to the Pondok Ranggon II Reservoir," he stated.
