Don't Panic and Stay Calm Amid Coronavirus Fears, DPRD Chairman Says

Don’t panic, don't be anxious

The Jakarta DPRD Chairman Prasetio Edi Marsudi has called on the public to remain calm in the face of the outbreak of the coronavirus or COVID-19, advising people to keep their body and mind pure so as to maintain immunity to avoid being infected with the fast-spreading virus, which originated in Wuhan, China.

According to him, the Jakarta Provincial Government and related stakeholders will take preventive and handling steps.

"Don’t panic, don't be anxious. Let's follow the medical instructions to minimize the potential for contracting COVID-19," he expressed, Tuesday (3/3).

He also urges them not to do panic buying for food commodities, medicines and other health support devices.

"Don't panic buying, as it can have an impact on increasing prices and harming other people," he explained.

Therefore his party has recommended hospitals as a reference for handling coronavirus, namely Sulianti Saroso RSPI (North Jakarta, Gatot Subroto RSPAD (Central Jakarta) and Persahabatan Hospital (East Jakarta), they must be ready to serve and treat patients.

"Accept and welcome patients with suspected novel coronavirus well," he asserted.
