City - Forkopimda Collaborates to Minimize COVID-19 Outbreak in Jakarta

We will improve all measures to reduce interaction between citizens in order to reduce the potential for transmission

The Jakarta Provincial Government held a meeting with the regional leadership communication forums (Forkopimda) that consist of Polda Metro Jaya, Kodam Jaya, Koarmada 1, Lamtanal Koop, High Prosecutors' Office, High Court, Kabinda and Garnisun at the Great Hall, Jakarta City Hall, on Sunday (3/15).

There were also Bulog, Retail Businessmen Association and Jakarta BUMD.

In that occasion, Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan conveyed an agreement with Forkopimda to minimize the spread of COVID-19. One of them was to reduce the intensity of interaction between citizens in public places.

"We will improve all measures to reduce interaction between citizens in order to reduce the potential for transmission," he expressed.

This policy was expected to be done well by carrying out activities at home.

"This does not mean you have to leave Jakarta or return home. But we want you not to travel at all, as we must ensure that Jakartans are safe and if detected have the potential to transmit, he/she did not transmit to other places but reported here," he explained.

The governor even gave a special message to students and parents regarding the policy of stopping teaching and learning activities in schools announced on Saturday (14/3).

"I need to underline that the policy to exclude activities at school does not mean holidays, but stay home with family must directing children to do activities at home," he uttered.

Aside that citizens should minimize activities outside the home with the potential for mass gathering, one of which is also religious activity.

"Religious activities involving many people should be postponed first, I urge the organizers to give priority to safety and to the public figures invited to be speakers to stop all that their activities temporarily," he stressed.

Lastly, he hoped that the Forkopimda to campaign for the prevention of COVID 19, as this global pandemic is a shared responsibility of every citizen.

"Once again I tell you that the government cannot solve this situation alone but also all elements. So protect yourself, family and other people by not interacting in public places," he closed.
