City's Public Libraries Closed Until March 28

All library buildings belong to Jakarta Government have been closed temporarily, on March 16-28, 2020, to prevent COVID-19 transmission.

Those are our efforts in preventing and reducing the risk of COVID-19 transmission

Public library that will be closed until March 28, namely Jakarta Library in Cikini and Kuningan; H.B. Jassin Literary Documentation Center; and Jakarta Community Library (Permata).

Jakarta Library and Archive Office Head, Wahyu Haryadi mentioned, although public libraries are closed, but his side still provides access to library service through digital library application called iJakarta.

This application is a platform that provides access for users to access digital book anytime and anywhere in order to read it online or offline.

"This application also has a forum where users can interact to each other, share book recommendations, and write their review related to the book," he explained, Monday (3/16).

He informed, android users can download and install iJakarta application from playstore, while iPhone users via appstore. Besides, book can be also accessed through ijakarta.id website.

"This service makes it easier for users to find the desired books," he added.

During the closing period of libraries in Jakarta, his side will focus on cleaning library areas using disinfectant and list the book collections into the INLISLite.

"Those are our efforts in preventing and reducing the risk of COVID-19 transmission," he asserted.

For information, Jakarta Library and Archive Office Head has instructed all of his subordinates to:

1. Take care of their health and personal hygiene. Performing cough etiquette, by covering mouth and nose when sneezing or coughing with disposable tissue. Dispose it in paper waste bin.

2. Wash hand thoroughly using running water and soap or disinfectant soap regularly about once per hour.

3. Reduce physical contact and mind the distance with other colleagues not less than 1 meter.

4. If having a fever with temperature above 37 Celsius degree as well as dry cough, immediately call 112.

5. Bring and use their own prayer rugs and mukena.

 

6. Go straight home and use personal protector against COVID-19.
