801 PMKS in East Jakarta Netted

Since January-September, the ranks of East Jakarta Social Sub-Department have netted 801 people with social welfare issues (PMKS) from Buruan, Jatinegara Market, and Pusat Grosir Cililitan (PBC) areas.

We keep holding raid against PMKS routinely. But we only secure 801 people from PMKS-prone areas that spread in 10 sub-districts

Head of Service and Social Rehabilitation Section for East Jakarta Social Sub-Department, M Yasin disclosed his side has tried various ways to minimize PMKS in his zone, yet it failed. Even, hundreds of banners containing Governor Instruction No. 53/2014 on the implementation of guidance, control and supervision against PMKS that contains confinement threats for 90 and a maximum fine of Rp 30 million is also not able to banish them in the capital. 

"We keep holding raid against PMKS routinely. But we only secure 801 people from PMKS-prone areas that spread in 10 sub-districts," he told, Monday (9/28).

176 PMKS Sent Home to Their Hometowns

He explained, those netted PMKS consist of 1 abandoned children, 5 street kids, 134 vagrants, 242 beggars, 100 street musicians, 62 scavengers, 7 hawkers, 57 sex workers, 6 disabled people, 9 transvestites, 83 psychotics, 41 abandoned people, 13 illegal parking attendants, 7 charity box children, and 34 homeless people.

"Until now, we have yet found the PMKS who commit acts of violence or criminal, but it must remain be anticipated," he uttered.
